“The facility is very clean and organized. The staff are friendly and professional. We saw Meredith the Tech and Dr. Robin the Vet and were impressed with their knowledge, skill and handling of our dog, Wyatt.” – Karen, Germantown
What Happens During a Pet Check-Up?
When you schedule your annual pet check-up with Germantown Vet, we’re going to check your four-legged friend from head to toe. During the appointment we will:
- Ask questions about your pet’s health, diet, exercise, etc. – this gives us an opportunity to get information about your pet from the person who knows him or her best—you! Depending on the breed and age of your pet, the questions may vary.
- Do a physical examination – this is an incredibly important part of the pet check-up because we get to actually examine your dog or cat. We will check the eyes, ears, stomach, skin and fur, paws, joints, heart, and lungs. During the examination, we can assess anything abnormal, including ear infections, skins conditions, weight gain, etc.
- Make sure vaccinations are up-to-date – there are a wide variety of vaccinations that your pet needs, and they need to be updated regularly. Visit our pet vaccinations page to learn more about the different vaccinations your dog or cat needs to ensure a happy, healthy life.
- Check heartworm and flea and tick medication – we will also check to make sure your pet’s heartworm and flea and tick medications are up-to-date, and make recommendations about administering more medication.
Depending on the type of pet you have, the age of your pet, and other factors, the exact procedures done during the check-up may vary. However, we will assess your pet’s overall health and make recommendations based on our findings—and if you have any questions about strange behaviors, pains, etc. that your pet has been experiencing, this is the perfect time to ask us.
