Dear Valued Clients,
Germantown Veterinary Clinic is committed to keeping our office healthy and safe for all of our patients, clients, staff, and family members. In light of the recent stay at home order from Governor Hogan we will be making the following changes to our protocols.
PATIENT INTAKE PROTOCOL
Effective 4/21/2020 at 7:30 am we will be changing our patient intake protocol for all non-emergency appointments.
Securing your cat or small dog in a carrier:
- All cats and small dogs under 20 pounds must be placed in a carrier by their owner before arriving at the clinic. If you do not have a carrier one can be provided when arriving at the clinic.
- For large dogs not in a carrier. The client will place their own leash/harness on their pet. A technician will come out and supply the client with an additional slip-on leash to place on their pet. The client will get out of their vehicle with their face mask on and pass the pet to the technician for evaluation.
Our scheduled appointment patient intake protocol is as follows:
- Upon arrival in our parking lot, clients will remain in their vehicle with their pet.
- Clients will call our main hospital number, 301-972-9730, to notify us that you are here, give a description of your vehicle and a cell number we can call you at.
- For the protection of our staff, please wear your face mask when our technician’s come to retrieve your pet.
- A technician and/or assistant will come to the client’s vehicle. The client will place the carrier outside their vehicle, while the technician stands 6 feet away. The client will get back in their car and the technician will retrieve your pet for evaluation.
**For inclement weather clients can place their carrier under the front porch awning**
- For large dogs the client will place their own leash/harness on their pet. A technician will come out and supply the client with an addition slip on leash to place on their pet. The client will get out of their vehicle and pass the pet to the technician for evaluation.
- Once the pet has been examined by one of our doctors, the client will receive a phone call to discuss recommendations and a treatment plan. Verbal consent for treatment and any outpatient estimates will be authorized over the phone.
- A Patient Care Coordinator will then obtain payment information via phone and an invoice you. All discharge instructions will be sent to you via email.
- A technician or assistant will return your pet to you.
